I will share with you what you are going to learn, why you should know the information and what you should do with the information. I cannot make anyone do anything nor would I try. However, if you want to get the most out of this session you should commit right now to do ALL the necessary work.
My Bible tells me that God’s people perish for lack of knowledge. It is interesting that the biggest reason people fail in business is lack of knowledge. In order to put together a great marketing plan you have to know your market whether it is your product or industry. But the goal is to gather as much information as you possibly can so that you can know precisely what you need to do to provide value to your market.
FACTS ABOUT DIRECT SALES
Here is what my research turned up about direct sales that I want to share with you that you may or may not know. Back in 2011 Global Direct Sales Revue were $153,727 million generated through this channel. In 2011 there were 91,500,000 people who were active distributors. 51,258,000 (mm) (56%) of that 91,500,000 were in Multi-level marketing. Did you know that less than .01% of active distributors earns greater than $400 per month. Also, 73% of active distributors never got a paycheck which is quite disturbing. There are 90% that make less than five thousand dollars per year and 98% make less than 25 thousand per year and 51% enroll in network marketing to earn a full time income and never get there and 34% enroll to earn supplemental income they do not get there and 9% enroll to get the products or services at a discount and 6% enroll to meet new people. Did you also know that the Direct selling Association has a membership base of 200 MLM’s and there are over 1,000+ MLM companies in the US. This information is phenomenal.
This is a lot of information and it does take time to acquire. So do not spend a ton of time gathering it but get some surface information that will help you understand who you are going after and what you are doing and how the world fits into your research. Once you begin gathering the data you will begin to have insight in your business. This will give you the ability to educate the world in what you are doing and what you are offering that could benefit them.
I did not go into the breakdown of the different categories but here is some category breakdowns: 24% of direct sales are in the Wellness (Nutrition + Weight Loss) industry; 20% are in the Household Goods/Durables (Cleaning + Candles + Appliances etc.)industry; 18% make up the Cosmetics & Personal Care (Makeup + Anti-Aging) industry; 12% Clothing & Accessories (Jewelry etc.); 10% Financial Products (Loans, Financial/Retirement Services etc.); 7% Utilities (Gas, Phone, Energy etc.); 3% Other (Misc.); 2% Books + Toys + Stationery + Scrapbooking etc.; 2% Foodstuff + Beverage (Non-Nutritional); and 1% Homecare (Healthcare services).As you can see that there is a lot of information available you just need to acquire it.
So here is your first assignment which is a big one and it will be ongoing. The first assignment is to find out more about your industry. You should gather 10 industry facts because the more you know the better equipped you are to provide solutions for your audience. Listen to the instructions in the video and it will show you where to get good quality information.
