Have you ever been frustrated with how some individuals are able to not only predict their future but they can envision themselves long before the actual events take place? Have you ever felt overwhelmed with not knowing what your years to come may be like? Are you feeling stuck in the present and are unable to seemingly move toward future success and figure out how it will manifest? Have you felt that your life lacked wisdom, knowledge and productivity to obtain a successful future for yourself and your family?

There were several experiments done with undergraduates where they found that students who were shown a digitally aged image of themselves allocated twice as much to their retirement accounts as those who weren’t shown images of themselves as they aged. Not only by looking ahead in time and feeling a connection to your future you will impact your bottom-line financially it allows one the conversion of larger bank accounts and significant worth. So why is it important for a leader to see themselves in the future?

Why leaders must envision the future Leaders have to be selfless in their thinking simply because they have to see a picture not only for themselves but for others. Therefore, it is important for a leader to bridge the present and future because they are defining it for more than themselves. Such a demanding position requires a leader to think beyond just the day-to-day activities in order that they do not miss the opportunities of tomorrow. There is a direct correlation of how well a leader figures out the future and the success of the organization. I want to share with you five strategies to help manifest the future into the present moment and draw you closer to your future self. 1. See yourself as the leader you could become. Try this incredible exercise. Envision yourself in the future; set a 15-minute timer and write, in as much detail as possible, about what a perfect day would look like in the future. Get into great detail describing your ideal future. Then ask yourself this very important question. What will it take to make this happen? I wrote myself a letter, me from 5 years from now take a look at a sample that you can begin for yourself it reflects not only what perfect future days resemble, but what my life will be. 2. Create your future in the here and now. Although we just spoke about the future and taking a forward-focused mindset is definitely important, but that mindset is developed right here and now. Taking advantage of the present moment is how you get to that future outcome. Our minds are so powerful that the Bible tells us that as a man thinks that is what he is i.e. if you think you will only be a lower level achiever that is exactly what you will have and be. If you think you are a top-producing leader that is exactly what you will have and be. When you deliberately and systematically think about what you want to have and be you are simply building your future while in the present moment through your thoughts, actions, ideas, decisions, and commitments. 3. Design a better tomorrow for others. Long-term success is done through long-term commitment. As much as you probably got involved with network marketing with you in mind, and that is o.k., as you become a professional, and mature within the industry you will quickly learn that it is about more than you. As you begin to help others really achieve success in their lives, you begin to see your significance. Being significant means that you have just become a viable cog in being blessed to bless others.

4. Resist going only for quick wins. In business and in life we will experience change and much of it can be quite difficult. A major part of change involves how we view our relationship to time—specifically, do you see time from a perspective of lack or abundance. Develop a long-term view of the future and it will put you in a position of readiness and willingness to develop your business for the others to follow. Where you will make contributions to the industry that will last over years and decades, rather than going only for easy, short-term results. 5. Adopt a beginner’s mindset. Even Jesus wants us to approach Him as a child and that is exactly what having a beginner’s mindset is all about. Many times as we grow and mature we begin to develop an arrogance that stifles continued growth. With a beginner’s mindset there are many possibilities because we are constantly in growing and developing mode. Children ask questions, they are curious, they do not have preconceived notions about things that block enhanced growth. There is wonder and excitement when a child’s mind is at work because it is open to explore, observe and see things just the way they are. There is no judgment involved which continues to open doors.

Although you may not need a digitally-aged image of yourself to prove that it is necessary to take action as a leader today. However, if you practice these five strategies, you can meet your future self. You can have Purpose Directed Success today!
