Have you ever felt overwhelmed with trying to inspire what seems like a lazy team? Have you ever felt frustrated with hearing people say that they want to succeed and have goals and aspirations but NEVER seem to want to do the work required to get them? Do you often feel stuck at a level and do not seem to be able to get others to receive your help and assistance? Have you ever felt like you lack the motivational tools to give to others that will help them do something in their businesses? It can be even worse when you recruit someone who promises everything but delivers nothing. Sometimes you may feel that it might be better for them to not have spent their money to obtain a business and waste their time, yours and others. So what can you do about it? How can you address that? How can you inspire people? Well here are some tips that I use…

TIP #1 Don’t be too aggressive. Do not push, prod, or poke

People in network marketing are all part of a team. They are just like you; they spent their money to own their own business. They are their own boss not you. You may have started before them so you are the leader in a sense that you started first, but you are definitely not their boss. The point of purchasing a network marketing business or their own franchise if you will was for them to be in business for themselves. You are their business associate, colleague or even partner, but they are business owners not employees.

If you push people too hard or in a manner that they are uncomfortable with they are going to push back or fall over and that is not fun for them or you. Remember they already have the pressure of their boss breathing down their neck. They are in a situation where they have to report to others and be held to scrutiny that does not promote their independence. They do not have the freedom to command their lives their way so it is your job to find out what their goals are and make sure you align your activity and persuasion with people along that level. When your activities are moving in the direction that their goals are in, your inspiration meter automatically rises.

TIP #2 Help align goals with activity including your own

If they want to make $100 dollars a month or $500 dollars a month you normally do not have to push them because that is simple to do. However if they do want pushing and they ask for it that is a different story. So make sure you treat them as an individual. When you are inspiring you have to remember that you lead from the front or first. The speed of the pack is set by the speed of the leader. If you sit back in your comfortable chair and are giving out orders “go and recruit two or three people” guess what will happen. That same recruit may get two or three people but at some point they are going to tell those new individuals the same thing you told them while they are sitting doing nothing. Guess what has just happened; duplication. So this will be the duplication of your business, which is probably not what you want, because at some point that type of leadership will dissolve and so will your business.

It is important not to say “do as I say and not as I do.” That is not how duplication works. Duplication is “do as I do and it will be done how you did.” If you want your new team members to bring in new growth guess what you need to do. You need to recruit also. But, if you want your team members to work alone, once you sign them up, all you need to do is leave them alone and that will be the type of duplication you will have. You will have individuals who are trying to figure out a system, getting frustrated and quitting. But if you want educated, productive individuals who are recruiting, training, reading, going up the rank machines then you will have to get in the trenches with them and do it first. Once you are in the trenches when they are falling off the wagon you can then and only then say "hey I am bringing in new growth what is up with you guys". That is the greatest way to spark action. In fact when you begin to show growth in your team people begin to become interested and want to do the same.

One way in which you can spark action is when you recruit, let your other team members know to welcome that new person on board. Send an email that keeps people informed as to what you are doing. You may not realize how much people watch. As those emails come across their desks they are keeping up with the numbers of people that are coming in under you and their own desires will begin to push, prod and poke at them without you ever having to and will begin to drive them to do something and even ask for help.

Tip #3 Know your role

Be clear about your relationship in regards to who you sponsor. I immediately set the tone and tempo. I ask the questions right from the start what do you want to earn. How much time are you willing to give? How much activity are you willing to give to get there? I ask their permission if you fall off the wagon can I help get you up or would you rather stay comfy? I also, tell them whatever their answer, to let me know their desires so I can remind them in the future. So everyone knows their roles moving forward. We are all clear as to how we are going to proceed, we all have reasonable expectations and this is based on mutual agreement.

The recruit and the sponsor should always be clear as to what they will and will not do. Also, once you establish a clear understanding, be aware that your recruit is watching how you are moving, creating action and building the culture of success. Once you are obtaining success in front of them they will begin to follow suit and will want to do the same.

Tip #4 Learning is important

One of the hardest endeavors that a sponsor has is getting team members to events. Whenever you leave an event you go away with a phenomenal sense of power and a true can-do spirit. You develop momentum and take that into your business until the next event. There is a direct correlation with the number of people who attend events are the number of people who will be active on your team. And even though many of us have heard that repeatedly, we do not completely internalize it.

Think about a football team. They practice 3-4 times per week until the big game. When they get to the game and have a big win the adrenaline, excitement and pure joy of what they learned and gained from the game takes them back into practice to do it harder until the next game. Each week serves as a building block to the end of the season playoffs for the big win and title. After winning the big game and title you enter a new season and start it all over again. Network marketing momentum occurs in the exact same way. You recruit, prospect, train throughout the week, then you attend an event whether it is a local, regional or national event. After leaving the event you feel empowered, strong, and more educated because of what you have learned. You take that excitement back on the practice field (recruiting, prospecting, and training) and you have more individuals joining and you repeat over and over until you get to the playoffs which is your next pin level. After you reach that pin level you begin your new season all over again and repeat. I pray you got value today. You can have Purpose Directed Success TODAY!
