GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD

Have you ever been frustrated because it felt like you were your own worst enemy? Are you overwhelmed with the words that you tell yourself and where they are guiding and leading you? Have you ever lacked the motivation to just do? Have you ever been stuck in your head, or with a concept you were learning? What you need to do is get out of your head and get into doing. Many of us need to get out of our own head and get into action.

What a lot of people do not realize is that most of the learning is in the doing and not in the study. Do not get me wrong I am an advocate for education. As great studying is, at some point you must DO. The interesting thing about putting what you learned into action is that as you continue to do you will continue to learn and that is what creates professionals. A professional does not just leave his or her experience in a book, or on a screen, they actually put what they know into action and continue to learn as they go. Professionals tend to work in this manner, they plan, learn and do and get better and better and better. But I cannot tell you the significance and importance of doing and not spending hours studying and never seeing what you learn benefit you. There is no such thing as perfection, you may come close but even then you will make a million course corrections along the way. Notice I said along the way which means as you are doing. If you are stuck in your head with being a serial student and just spending your time studying, well now is the time to go do.

The question arises why am I stuck in my head? Why will I not just simply get into action? For many it is fear that controls you. It will paralyze you and keep you living in desperate situations, and sadly it will stop you from living the life of your dreams. But you can achieve whatever you set your mind to if you recognize your fear and begin the process of facing it.

Now, I do not mean for you to start facing your fear by base-jumping, purposely trapping yourself in elevators, or allow tarantulas to climb all over you. What I mean is for you to recognize a fear, observe it and begin to take steps to jump right in. Does this scenario sound familiar to you?

Here is a person who shops to feel better. This person believes that a pair of celebrity-endorsed high heels will make her glamorous enough to fit in and feel accepted. Interestingly, this person does not realize that they don’t feel bad about themselves until they are comparing themselves to others.

When the new pair of high heels go unnoticed, and they begin to destroy their feet, and still haven’t prompted an invite to the popular parties, the fridge search begins of course with a tub of ice-cream or pack of cookies and the hole inside gets deeper and deeper.

After the ice-cream and cookies do not succeed in filling the hole you are compelled to find the sofa and reach for the remote control. Surfing from channel to channel and show to show your hole begins to grow and you find a new trusty friend called the internet.

Only after watching other people live their busy successful lives does it actually register that you should do something else. That something else is to put into action all those skills that you have been reading about, all those skills you have been hearing.

Encouragingly, The aforementioned scenario is not unique. However, it is one that can be overcome with a lot of determination, focus and hard work. Remember this is a journey not a destination, therefore there are processes that you will go through throughout this journey. So, go and get purpose directed success today!
