A DIFFERENT KIND OF NEW YEARS MESSAGE

Happy New Year! I pray that you had an incredible celebration bringing in the new year. But I want to ask you a couple of questions.

Are you feeling frustrated that the New Year is here and as you reflected back on the old does not bring you much comfort and excitement because of the accomplishments you made? Are you feeling a little stuck and do not really know the first step to take in 2015 to make the New Year spectacular? Are you feeling overwhelmed with this entire goal setting stuff and because you may have done those tasks last year and they did not result in what you inevitably wanted? Are you feeling as if you are lacking the energy and effort to put forth to create a new more fulfilling year? Well, know this that 2015 will be great because you are here right now.

As you reflect on the old year and look forward to the New Year I want to give you a message of encouragement and realism. In network marketing we can become experts not so much at our craft but at beating ourselves up when we begin to look back. We become the Kings and Queens of doom over what our accomplishments looked like. We will beat ourselves up over what we did not do and the things that we did not accomplish. We will criticize the ranks that we did not hit and the income goals that we did not make. We will talk bad about ourselves regarding how at every turn we procrastinated and were unproductive. We beat ourselves up from not facing our fears. We will not give ourselves any credit for anything. We will look at ourselves in unfilled glasses because our goals were not met exactly the way we said that they would be. When we do this we do not give ourselves a moment to be grateful for the things that we actually did accomplish. We can be our biggest critics and can be so hard on ourselves that it leaves of paralyzed.

So, I am giving you an assignment as we enter this New Year. Think of it as your first goal setting assignment with a twist. The one simple assignment is to write down the things in 2014 that you are proud of. You made it through 365 days in your business and even if I do not know you, I know you accomplished something great you just have to be willing to look and give yourself credit for it.

What are the things in 2014 in your professional career that you are proud of? If you are thinking I do not have any that is not true. We tend to look for these mountain moving items and many times they are small but monumental. Some of your accomplishments might be something as simple as you did not quit in the face of opposition. This is huge. Maybe it was that you did not give up in the face of obstacles or the face of challenges. You may not realize how many people do not overcome these hurdles.

Maybe you kept going and did not stop. Guess what, you should be proud of that so write that on your list. Write down on the list if you hit a rank, I did not say if you hit “THEE” rank, I said hit a rank, because we can devalue what we do. EVERY SINGLE accomplishment is important and worth celebrating. So write it down, if you qualified for a trip. Write down if you helped someone else regarding your product or service. If you sponsored the necessary individuals to receive your products or service FREE write that down. If you helped someone else in the network marketing profession face their fears write that down. Think of the things that may not stick out so readily. Maybe it is that you invested in your business education and learning and you are proud of the fact that you watched some of these videos and you have applied them to your career. Maybe it was that you read a book that helped you get some understanding about the Network Marketing Industry that you did not have before, well that is important write it down.

I want you to make a list of the things that you are proud of in 2014 whether big or small and I want you to allow those things to serve as building blocks to help you in 2015. If you have the courage to do this assignment and I pray that you do, then maybe you may have a little bit left over to comment below about the things that you are proud of. You can be generic, no need to mention your company, but I am a believer that someone else’s test that results in their testimony can always be someone’s help. Maybe you did something that stretched you and you are proud that you were able to overcome that. Think of the things that you are proud of and can pat yourself on the back for. Remember your year was not wasted especially if you are reading this post right now. It means that you are still hanging in there and you are still trying. That alone is a feat and should be celebrated.
