Have you ever wondered what the secret is to prospecting? Have you ever been overwhelmed with feeling that you are running out of people to talk to? Are you feeling stuck on a list of five people and it does not seem as if you can find anyone to prospect? Have you ever been frustrated with your efforts of talking to people and it seems as if you do not have any success in getting them to listen to you at all? I believe one of the major reasons that prospecting is unsuccessful is because many times we miss the fundamentals.

A major fundamental of MLM prospecting that the core of your business is built upon is “relationship.” This one component is often misunderstood and devalued, but it tends to be the most vital component in the strength and growth of a successful MLM business. Business in general is built upon building relationships, so why would we think that MLM businesses are any different. The fact that they are referred to as Network Marketing businesses gives us great insight on what we should be putting our priorities and energies on. When we Network all we are doing is building relationships with people. After all we know that Network Marketing is known as the people business. So, if it is a business about people, it just makes good sense that building relationships first and foremost is vital.

When you are building relationships it is important to win a prospect as a friend or acquaintance first and then work on developing trust with them before you actually introduce your product or business opportunity. Once you have an established relationship then foundation of trust will ensue over time. During the process of developing this relationship you must continue to nurture it by adding value to your prospect on a regular basis. As a result of your attentiveness in developing a friendly relationship and staying in constant contact, it is more likely you will have their ear and willingness to get involved. You have to remember that the value you added to your prospect will be in direct proportion to how much attention they will give you.

Providing quality and value to your prospects is simply you listening attentively to their needs, showing interest in who they are and what is important to them, and looking for ways to edify them through questions that allow them to open up and talk about themselves. These genuine acts of interest in building a relationship with a prospect gives them a sense of trust that you care about more than what they can do for you, but what you can actually do for them and this then translates into a long-standing customer or recruit.

Before you begin prospecting for your network marketing business, you must have a great product to offer which most MLMs do have. You need to believe in your product and your company because your level of belief transfers over to those you are speaking to. Last, you need to use your product and have a personal testimonial to give to others, in other words evidence becomes the greatest spokesperson for you because now you have founded results.
