One of the major reasons for the negative image of network marketing is due in large part to those individuals who are not really professional network marketers. These individuals exaggerate income levels, set unrealistic expectations, treat people like fish bait and act like sharks trying to “get” people oppose to collaborating with them. There are many who do not know how to treat people like humans. Sometimes people are treated as if they are part of a lottery. There are individuals who use cheap sales tactics and these behaviors do nothing for the Network Marketing Profession in fact all they do is bring harm that causes those who are professionals to work that much harder to maintain the dignity and respect of this profession.

WHAT IS YOUR ATTITUDE?

The bad behaviors and attitudes permeate our profession and it just needs to stop. No matter where you are in the profession, whether you are brand new or have been in for quite a while, we all have arrived in Network marketing and are aware as to how we got there. Network Marketing has been one of the greatest blessings to my family. It is something that I have been able to do that will allow me to leave a real legacy for my children, a solid business, a great income and lifestyle for them. This profession, I believe is the greatest profession for true entrepreneurial minded individuals. Those who want to take command of their lives and create success for their families and introduce this remarkable opportunity to others who may not otherwise be able to change their circumstances. This profession has the lowest risk with the highest level of reward bar none. What other profession yields the type of freedom to work from home, have flexibility in our schedules, build it whenever and wherever, and provide a plethora of other benefits as well.

BECOME A PROFESSIONAL

As a Network Marketer you should be well aware of the benefits available to you. But guess what needs to happen to keep the strength and truth of our profession--we all have to do our part in educating others, taking responsibility in being truthful, informative and professional. We need to build a culture not just of Network Marketers but of professionals. This is a profession just like being a Doctor or a Lawyer. If we are going to be viewed as professionals we have to act professionally. Many of us who are in network marketing are in current jobs and know how to perform those tasks in a professional manner otherwise you would not have those jobs. But it seems that when it comes to network marketing we forget that it too is a profession. Maybe this leaves us because we are at the helm and we develop a feeling that we can do anything we want, anyway we want and it does not matter. Maybe there are feelings that are unrealistic that bad behavior will not reflect somehow badly upon us.

When we act professionally in our network marketing business people will begin to view us as professionals, thus those same individuals will begin to treat us differently which will eventually change the culture. If we become selfless and actively try to help others by informing them about the opportunities they will see us as professionals who are trying to address their needs oppose to get something from them all the time. They will begin to see the care and the concern for their wellbeing and begin to view the profession differently.

Do you notice the change in culture begins with us? I am sure there are individuals who may promote bad behavior just like any company there are a few bad apples. However, if the majority of us takes a stand for good behavior and become real professionals and builds a culture around those characteristics, everyone in our organizations will follow suit and the company will also. It is so easy to be tempted to take the shortcuts in life, but all we do is end up cheapening our image, the company’s image and it just isn’t good for anyone involved. Creating a great culture starts with YOU in your organization and it builds from there. We were all created to affect change, but the question is what kind of change will you make?
