Have you ever been frustrated when you see people succeeding because of a perceived sense of luck? Do you feel overwhelmed when facing opposition and it seems that breakthrough may not come? Are you feeling stuck in the growth of your business and you are hoping that you could just get that one break to find that one mega person? Do you feel that you lack the ingredients to be fortunate in your business to create a solid business foundation? Well I am here to tell you today that luck has absolutely nothing to do with building a successful business. Did I say NOTHING? Yeah nothing!
I have heard it said many times that ignorance is bliss. That cliché always made me pause because if ignorance is bliss then what is knowledge. I cannot think of any reason why not knowing is heavenly or blissful in anyway. What I think ignorance is it is poverty, Ignorance is pain, ignorance is lost opportunity, Ignorance is a place where you do not want to be, and Ignorance creates helplessness and hopelessness. So why on God’s green earth would anyone think that ignorance is something that they should strive for or want to indulge in? On the other hand education and knowledge are bliss. There is power in knowing and having understanding and that my friend is heavenly.
Knowledge is good. People often say I would rather be lucky than good. That statement is a little ignorant to me and as you just read I described in great detail what I felt about ignorance. What people are hoping for is to get lucky in network marketing and sponsor that one magical person, that one person who is on fire that can bring in thousands of people and they ride on their coattails. They are looking to be in the right place at the right time and have things fall into their laps without work or effort and many people really believe that is what network marketing is all about. These individuals are living in a state of ignorance to think that net “WORK” marketing does not include work or is not a business. Network Marketing requires the same techniques, strategies, effort and perseverance that any other business requires in order for it to be successful.
There are times when you may sponsor a person who is self-motivated, organized, and influential and just a person who is tenacious and knows what they want. But this is the exception to the rule, and not the norm. There are some people who get in Network Marketing and sponsor someone that is on fire immediately and their organizations grow exponentially. And there are those who are no longer in network marketing who at one point made a lot of money because they were fortunate to get a magical runner or leader early in their career, but never developed their own skills to maintain. It is similar to the beautiful person who never develops their knowledge and skill and wishes and hopes that their beauty will benefit them throughout their entire life. Do not get me wrong you can benefit for a time, but to create the longevity of success luck alone will not do it.
I have shared with you before that YOU are your greatest asset. Maybe I should say it this way YOU and your developed skillsets are your greatest assets. If you will work on the skills not only in your head but in actuality I can promise you luck (if you will) and good fortune will follow you for the rest of your life. You will not have to spend countless hours hoping on that magical person, or hoping for that magical moment or being at the right place at the right time. When you continue to put those skills to use you will find that good people will find you. Faith without WORKS is dead. You have to go and get it and when you do you will find that people will begin finding you and God will connect you with them. If you are going out and showing presentations, putting people on the calls daily and so forth and so on you will see how quickly your skills are developing and how many ideas about new people to talk to develops as well and you will see your business grow right before your very eyes.
One of the things that we forget is that as we become skillful in our tasks we will be granted favor for developing our skills and developing yourself into a network marketing professional and not because we are someone who got lucky one time. You want to build a solid business foundation. My advice to you would be to develop YOU right now because seasons change and if you are prepared for the change you can weather the storms that come. If you were not aware, your skills are your insurance policy. When you pay into the policy by developing it no matter what may happen you can always go back to them. They never go away and you can make things happen for you. French chemist, Dr. Louis Pasteur, once said, "fortune favors the prepared mind.” Without “a prepared mind,” opportunities for breakout innovation may be overlooked.
