Everyone Wants the Scripts and How-to’s…

When my wife and I talk to our teammates we seek to give as many “how-to’s” as possible such as how to recruit more reps, how to build a team, how to follow up, how to talk to strangers, etc., however, as much as the “how-to’s” are incredible to developing as a business person sometimes it is NOT just about that it is also about how you do the how-to’s.

I have always believed that Leadership is the key to success, therefore if your desire is to create network marketing success; it would behoove you to begin investing in yourself through training to THINK like a leader. Leaders are those individuals that people want to work with and follow therefore your goal MUST be to become a leader if you want the same.

It’s Rarely About Time, It’s About Efficiency

If you have talked with wealthy individuals or really successful individuals also known as Leaders, they will tell you that time is one of their greatest assets. If you are to invest in becoming a Leader as well you will need to get a great understanding of how valuable time is. One way in assessing the value of your time is to assess whether you have been successful as a part-time network marketer. If your answer to that is no, then your reality is you probably will not have a successful full-time network marketing business. The reason that I make this statement is that if you are a part-time marketer you become successful because you have learned to manage your time extremely well. How you use your time is normally the barometer of how successful you will be. And I want to teach you a way in which you can use your time wisely through a simple exercise. This exercise will not only save you time it is a skill set that your teammates will benefit from as well. It will help you think more like a leader and help create leaders too.

The Right Question Could Change Your Life

What should you ask yourself to grow as a leader? One thing that I try to do as a leader is to teach a man to fish oppose to just giving him one in order to grow as a leader and take control of their own lives. I always want people to go away with a transferable skillset that will cause a positive reaction in their lives. What I mean by that is I like to help individuals learn to truly think and respond accordingly because many times people ask questions just for question sake. They will ask a question just to fill the room and not to receive the necessary answers that they plan on implementing to affect change. There is a difference between what to think and knowing how to think and I will tell you right now.

Here are some of the most commonly asked questions that network marketers tend to ask.

• Where do I find people to talk to?

• What do I do for each day?

• What should I say to a new recruit?

• How do I inspire teammates?

The Question of the Hour

The fact that these and many other questions have been asked over and over again should tell you that they probably have been answered many times as well. Although these are great and valid questions the question that you should be asking should be directed to yourself. The question you should ask yourself is “what would I tell someone if they asked me these questions” (meaning questions like the ones listed above). The purpose of asking yourself this question is to teach you to look at things in a different manner and from a different perspective. When you shift your normal mode of thinking you begin to use a different portion of your brain and this exercise allows you to begin to think as leaders do, therefore training you to become a leader. Developing into a leader should be one of your main goals because these traits allow you to grow stronger as a network marketer and become far more productive than you ever imagined. You should always strive to become a leader and prepare yourself accordingly not just for your business but leadership traits are great to have in every aspect of your life.

So the next time you have a question ask yourself “how would I answer a new recruit if they posed the same question.” Do you know that chances are you would be able to answer them because you already have the answer? This exercise should not be in lieu of asking questions or investing in training because we all have questions no matter what level we are. But what it should do is prompt you to begin to think like a leader first and foremost and aid in you getting better at answering those questions.

Let me tell you where the power in this comes in. As you learn new skills that help your business you should be teaching those to new recruits. So when a teammate comes to you about learning how to be a leader you could help them do the same. If you were asked by your teammate “what should I do to find people” you can then turn to them and say ask yourself this question, “How would you answer it if a new recruit asked you.”

It is so funny that we do not always realize that for some things we have the answer inside of us but we have not positioned ourselves for leadership therefore being unable to think as one. As you position yourself into network marketing leadership do you know what happens? You actually grow into a network marketing leader.
