SHOULD YOU PROSPECT FAMILY AND FRIENDS?

Are you frustrated with whether you should talk to family and friends? Have you been overwhelmed with different ideas that say to only go after your cold market? Do you lack the know how to talk to family and friends about your opportunity? Are you stuck trying to make a decision as to who you should talk to your warm market leads or your cold market leads? The interesting thing about your warm market is that it mainly consists of family and friends. There are many marketers who will instruct you to go after your cold market oppose to your warm market. They will instruct you to use the internet. I have a different opinion about going after your warm market.
The Problem with Friends and Family
There are definitely Pros and Cons of sharing your opportunity with family and friends. Some family and friends can be truly a bear to deal with where others can be extremely supportive. You have to know your family and friends to gauge which one yours is. However, the good news is that they are your family and friends and you typically spend time with them (in some cases this may not be good). But in the cases where there is great chemistry and desire to want to be around one another talking to family and friends is wonderful. Even if you have a great situation with your family and your friends I would never chase after them, in fact you should never do that with anyone. Nonetheless, I would think that if you enjoy your family and friends and they you why would you not consider talking to them. Think about it you apparently spend time together would it not be nice to also do it in an environment where you all are making money and changing your lives and others for the better. If given the opportunity I would want my family and friends to be my business partners because that is essentially what they become if you are in business together.
Your team becomes family because when you are involved in all of the processes of growing your business you will begin to spend lots of time together. You obviously hang out with your family and friends. So if this is true then, if you are in business together you may go on trips together, attend conferences, have home meetings, etc. Your business will begin to revolve around your family and friends along with developing a passion for helping others. Now think about it, does it not make sense to talk to your warm market. If you believe in what you are doing and you want your family and friends to experience the journey with you it only is right to invite them along.
Keys to Warm Market Success
There may be family and friends who come on board with you. But you may have some that would never join. However, that should not prohibit you from being friends with them. I would never hold saying “NO” against them, nor would I chase them until they begin ignoring your calls, but the real secret to having success with your warm market is:
1. Don’t try to close the sale immediately, first gauge their openness to the opportunity, put some fillers out there and
2. Make sure you do not make false promises, give them realistic expectations of your commitment to them, the business, the amount of work, etc.
3. HAVE Straight Talk with them. Let them know that you will do this with or without them, but you would love to do it with them.
Friends and Family are the very best Free MLM Leads, but you MUST have the right intentions
The tricky part in recruiting your friends or family is that you walk a thin line to becoming a member of the NFL (No Friends/Family Left) club. The key to not being part of this club is you must be genuine. You cannot and should not expect your family or friends to want to get involved in anything that you are doing if you are only going after them because it will lace your pockets. Your reasons are selfish and friends and family can detect that behavior better than anyone.
Let me tell you a story, my wife has eczema and so does my youngest son, because it runs in her family. When she and I joined our opportunity we did so because they had a product that was incredible for their skin. My wife immediately picked up the telephone to call her brother not because she was trying to put money in our pocket, the first thing out of her mouth was my brother has eczema also and he would love this product. She was genuinely concerned about his well-being regarding his skin. She also got one of her sisters involved for the same reason. It is important for you to believe in what you are doing in order for your honesty to show. Because my wife had pure intentions she experienced success with her siblings.
Due to the close relationship and familiarity with your warm market you DO NOT want to hype them up. You DO NOT want to trick them into a meeting. You DO NOT want to beat them senseless with texts, emails and phone calls on how they are an idiot if they don’t join your hot business (Kindness is the key). Last, DO NOT CHASE, BEG, or BUG your friends and family. Remember, if anyone you should owe a sense of kindness and genuine concern for it is your family and your friends. If this is the case would you want them on the journey with you than without you?
Again, IF you believe in what you are doing, why would you not talk to them? But if you DO NOT believe in what you are doing, you should not be doing it.
